Valuations
The performance of business valuations is a service which the present and prospective clientele of Burkholder & Company are requesting on an increasingly frequent basis; our firm intends to aggressively promote and expand our offering of valuation services.
At present, all business valuations are performed by David A. Burkholder who has performed such valuation services for a period of approximately twelve years. Attached is a curriculum vitae detailing Mr. Burkholder’s educational preparation, experience in the area of business valuations and past engagements performed.
The firm intends to offer valuation services, principally in the Mid-Atlantic area (but not necessarily limited to that area) to the following types of clients, among others:
- Attorneys specializing in the areas of estate planning and administration, trusts and similar areas of focus who may need valuations of closely-held corporations and other businesses in connection with both planning and death tax return preparation purposes.
- Attorneys who offer legal services in the areas of domestic law, marital property settlements and other similar matters.
- Individuals who are either considering or actively pursuing the sale of their business, and want an independent opinion as to its value.
- Parties in adverse interest to present ownership and/or management of businesses.
Continuing Education related to Business Valuations:
- Attended eight-part course on business valuations offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1995; passed examinations following each of the eight parts of the course.
- Attended five-day course on business valuations offered by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) in October 1999.
- Have served as an expert witness and litigation support for several valuation cases.
